3,500-Year-Old Bear Discovered In Siberian Permafrost

NBC - A brown bear that was perfectly preserved in the frozen wilds of eastern Siberia for 3,500 years has just undergone a necropsy by a team of scientists this week after it was discovered by reindeer herders in the Arctic. “This find is absolutely unique: the complete carcass of an ancient brown bear,” said Maxim Cheprasov, laboratory chief at the Lazarev Mammoth Museum Laboratory at the North-Eastern Federal University in Yakutsk, eastern Siberia. “For the first time, a carcass with soft tissues has fallen into the hands of scientists, giving us the opportunity to study the internal organs and examine the brain.”

CBS - In audio from a 2017 court appearance at a bail hearing for a "family friend," George Santos can be heard telling a Seattle judge, "I'm an aspiring politician and I work for Goldman Sachs." And while the first part is true now, it has just come to light that the second part was not. In fact, he never worked for the famous investment firm at all. "You work for Goldman Sachs in New York?" the judge asked. "Yup," Santos said.

China Warned To Not Provide Military Aid To Russia

CNN - US national security adviser Jake Sullivan this week vowed there would be “real costs” for China if the country went forward with providing lethal aid to Russia in its war on Ukraine. “From our perspective, actually, this war presents real complications for Beijing. And Beijing will have to make its own decisions about how it proceeds, whether it provides military assistance. But, if it goes down that road, it will come at real costs to China. And I think China’s leaders are weighing that as they make their decisions,” Sullivan told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.” In diplomatic conversations with China, Sullivan added, the US is “not just making direct threats. We’re just laying out both the stakes and the consequences, how things would unfold. And we are doing that clearly and specifically behind closed doors.”

SNAP Benefits Have Ended

NBC - As of March 1, the emergency allotment for individuals and households enrolled in the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, has ended in 32 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Charles Jones, a 63-year-old U.S. military veteran based in Rockford, Illinois, received an enhanced monthly SNAP benefit of $281 under the temporary program. And now that the program has ended, Jones's payments will plummet to $23, the minimum monthly amount. “When they cut this extra benefit from SNAP, that’s going to put me in a serious problem,” Jones said. “It helped me out a lot...[but] you know how the government is. They want to keep the rich, rich and the poor, poor.”

Church Successful Prays Away Crime

FOX - Armed robbers who allegedly stormed into a church in Missouri were reportedly thwarted when the pastor and congregation prayed for them. Former police officer Marquaello Futrell, pastor of All Creation Northview Holiness Family Church in Ferguson, Missouri, said that the four alleged would-be robbers were apprehended by the Holy Spirit during the Sunday morning service on Feb. 12, according to local KSDK. "Don’t you play with me," Futrell told the four young men. "I still got a cop anointing and I still know what’s going on, and I still know what’s about to happen. God’s about to change the plot of the enemy. Lift your voices and shout unto God for what he’s about to do." And after they agreed to receive prayer, the congregation prayed for the young men for several minutes before the four young men peacefully left the building .

The "Most Likely" Origin Of COVID-19

WP - FBI director Christopher A. Wray said this week that covid-19 “most likely” originated from a lab incident in Wuhan, China, his first public comments on the agency’s position on the origins of the coronavirus. “The FBI has for quite some time now assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan,” Wray said this week in an interview with Fox News. “The Chinese government, seems to me, has been doing its best to try and thwart and obfuscate the work here, the work that we’re doing, and that’s unfortunate for everybody.”

FBI Arrests 'Sedition Panda'

NBC - Remember that video clip from Jan. 6 where a man wearing a panda head was seen entering the Capitol through an emergency fire escape seconds after it was broken open by rioters? Well, the FBI has identified Jesse James Rumson as the man in the panda head because Rumson repeatedly wore it on and off during the storming of the Capitol and he was caught on video and in photos with his face in full view, an FBI special agent said in an affidavit supporting his arrest. Rumson has since been arrested this week in Florida, according to court records, and was charged with multiple offenses, including assaulting, resisting or impeding an officer and engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds.

CNBC - President Joe Biden said this week that “history matters, and Black history matters” during a White House reception marking Black History Month. “It’s important to say from the White House for the entire country to hear: History matters. History matters and Black history matters,” Biden said. “I can’t just choose to learn what we want to know. We learn what we should know. We have to learn everything, the good, the bad, the truth, and who we are as a nation.”

COVID-19 Was "No Accident"

FOX - A Chinese virologist who sounded the alarm in early 2020 about where the coronavirus came from said this week the U.S. has reached a "milestone achievement" after a classified intelligence report from the Energy Department reportedly found the virus most likely originated in a Chinese lab. FOX Host Tucker Carlson asked Dr. Li Meng Yan this week if she still believes the virus was intentionally released nearly three years after the pandemic started. "Of course, it was not an accident," Yan responded. "Maybe for people who don't have this kind of biosafety lab 3 or 4 experience on coronavirus, maybe it's easy for them to accept the accident lab leak. However, I'm a scientist, working in [a] research lab using coronavirus. And I can tell you, based on the print protocol and also the other surveillance system, it would be impossible for the lab leak [to] accidentally happen in such [a] lab and cause the Wuhan outbreak and also the pandemic," Yan said. "So definitely now we just reached the first step. It was from China's lab, and we need to pursue the truth of origin, and we need to keep going on."

Biden Had Cancerous Skin Lesion Removed

CBS - President Biden reportedly had a small skin lesion with cancerous tissue removed from his chest during his physical exam in February and "no further treatment is required," according to the White House physician. Testing confirmed the lesion was basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer. "All cancerous tissue was successfully removed," Dr. Kevin O'Connor said.
